Tue, 12th May 2009 An army officer was arrested on Monday for allegedly clicking obscene photos of a Mumbai-based teenager and blackmailing her, police said here. Major Tarun Singh (27), currently posted in Srinagar, was arrested after the girl lodged a complaint at a Panaji police station.
Singh was holidaying in Goa with his family and was allegedly staying in the room next to the victim's, who had checked in with her family.
According to the victim's complaint, the Major allegedly shot obscene photos of her while she was taking a bath, by dislodging the tiles in her bathroom window.
He later telephoned the girl via intercom and asked her to meet him in his room. Singh also allegedly sent the victim a threatening note, said Inspector Nolasco Raposo.
The complainant stated that the Major blackmailed her threatening to download the obscene clips and circulate them via Internet if she did not turn up in his room. Police have recovered the mobile and the laptop where the clips were saved.
Singh is yet to disclose the regiment he belongs to, police said, adding that they had informed Indian Army officials about the arrest. |
