Talwar's moves SC, seeks guidelines for media reporting

Thu, 6th Nov 2008

Accusing Uttar Pradesh police of "confusing" the CBI investigation in the double murder of his daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, Dr Rajesh Talwar has moved the Supreme Court urging it to hear him in a public interest litigation that seeks guidelines for media reporting. Talwar's intervention application is in response to UP administration's affidavit by the State Home Secretary that has reiterated its earlier stand against Noida-based dentist.

The UP Police along with the State Home Department had rejected the allegations raised by advocate PIL petitioner Surat Singh and claimed Talwar's arrest was subsequent to "fair investigation". In his application Talwar said the UP Police's decision to reiterate its stand required to be contested.

Requesting the apex court to permit him to present his arguments for "effectual justice", Talwar claimed the UP Home Secretary and the senior police officials had made adversarial assertion through their affidavit. Talwar further said the UP Police affidavit was an attempt to justify its mistake.
